In December 2005 I bought into a system called PortalFeeder. It wasn't cheap, but it came with a money back guarantee.
Here is what I wrote back then:
PortalFeeder Examined
I was really excited this week as a new product hit the market called, "PortalFeeder".
PortalFeeder promises to be more than just another piece of software, it's lots of different software all lumped together to help the budding Internet entrepreneur generate money online.
It contains many (or all) of the items I discuss on this web site - things like a content generation system that goes looking for relevant articles, it stores articles, shares with other users (I think), optimises itself for top search engine placement and publishes sites in a way that I've never seen before.
I can't say too much about it at the moment, because it's such a new system.
PortalFeeder was launched on Wednesday 7 December 05 and was only made available for 24 hours. After that, subscriptions closed and they won't be selling more unless people drop out of the system along the way, which, given the nature of people who need to learn stuff, is probably pretty likely.
As a keen Internet Marketing student, I love it when products like this come along and I can't wait to get some new information portals built - it's what I've been trying to do myself without really knowing it!
I'll post more as I learn how to use the system. It looks to me on first glance, a lot more than just another software system.
Even without an affiliate link (due to limited membership), I recommend that if you are a serious Internet Marketer, you should take a look at the site and register for any available slots as they crop up: PortalFeeder
END QUOTE
So what happened in 2005 after I joined?
Did I make the big time? Did portalfeeder live up to the hype?
It's now April 2007 and the reason O am writing this is because I've been receiving a lot of marketing emails about the all singing, all dancing, all new PortalFeeder 2!
As I recall, and my memory isn't that great, I was disappointed with Portalfeeder1.
In fact, I was so disappointed that I soon asked for my money back and I left the program.
Good marketers stand by their promise and refund the money - so by all means, try Portalfeeder while it's still available - it really is risk free.
This page was actually removed from my site because I didn't think it was fair to leave up something that I couldn't be positive about. I don't like leaving negative comments about products and services and believe me, I am not being negative about Portalfeeder now. It just wasn't for me.
The problem was, that although I removed it from the sitemap and the navigation, I did actually leave it on the server and Google found it!
Judging by the stats for my site, quite a few people must have got the sales email from Portalfeeder and have come looking for independent clarification that it's worth buying into.
I can't answer that for you.
The new sales web page for Portalfeeder2 is crammed full of testimonials from people making money with the system and I see that there are a number of blogs that rave about the product, so it must have some merit.
Membership to Portalfeeder2 is now available (at least for the moment). I'm not knocking it - seriously, I love to see people doing well.
Am I buying into it? No.
Why not? Well, I had to ask myself if I needed to learn how to get onto the front page of Google.
Truth is, if you search Google.com for the keyword, "Portalfeeder", you'll see the answer.
Why would I want to pay several hundred dollars a month to learn this stuff when I can do it already?
As a wannabe Internet marketer, you might well want to pay the money. You can get a refund if you dopn't like it - providing you do so before the monthly fees kick in - you only get the initial cost of joining back.
Personally, these days, people who want me in their membership systems have to pay me!
