Internet Marketing

Introduction to Internet Marketing.

There is a world of difference between marketing on the Internet and traditional marketing although the gap between the two is beginning to shorten as more people become accustomed to the way that the Internet works.

It's my intention here to explain and simplify Internet Marketing so that you can do just about everything yourself.

Occasionally, where I use a particular service or product myself, I have included a text link to that site so that you may investigate further. I could have just copied and included all of the information, but that's not really what the Internet is about. Why add to the clutter when a link is all that's required?

Since 1994, I have made a significant percentage of my income from the Internet and in mid 2002, ceased all of my off-line business activities and now derive 100% of my income from the Internet, with no advertising, no telesales calls and without having to leave my home unless visiting a client from an Internet generated appointment.

Most businesses these days have some kind of Internet presence, but in the main, they do it wrong and either over-complicate things or, go the other way and try to make their web site nothing more than an on-line brochure.

Unfortunately, brochures rarely sell, so to build a web site that resembles a company brochure is perhaps the biggest mistake you could make.

Internet marketing isn't simply a set of rules that can be applied to a web site, it's a complete methodology that incorporates a number of different factors, the more effective ones being included on this site.

It's taken me since 1994 to learn everything that I need to know and yet every day, I discover something new that I can employ on one of my many web sites and turn into cash.

For this reason, don't expect that all of the answers are on this site, they're not. All I can do is point you in the right direction.

Much of what I learned in the early days came from trial and error. I was a part owner of a recruitment company and began using the Internet news groups to advertise services.

In those days, we didn't have a web site, we just had an email account and used to upload job advertisements onto newsgroups using email. Then, we'd sit back and wait for the response to come in.

Newsgroup advertising was and still is, free. It's more crowded now and less likely to be effective for marketing and selling, but in 1994 there was nothing to beat it.

An original investment of less than £200 turned into £40,000 of booked business within 3 months. To say the least, I was pretty impressed with the result and that's what spurred me on to learn more.

Since that time, I have invested a lot of my personal money into learning more and experimenting with systems, software and in some cases, people in an attempt to make the Internet work efficiently for me.

Mine is only a small business. There's only me. However, what I present and propose on this site will work whether your company is small or large, or in some cases, if you are an individual looking to make some spare cash.

The Internet really does provide you with a wealth of opportunity.
