Fresh From The Gaming Exhibition

I don't go to many shows and events, but as this one was local, I tought I'd better make an appearance at Villa Park today.

How did it go?

Well, it might be me. I'm not a natural networker and like to feel comfortable in my surroundings. Around 70 people attended the event and from what I saw, they seemed a decent enough bunch.

The problem for me was there were only a few sponsors there and to be honest, it wasn't what I was looking for. As I mentioned in an earlier entry this week, I was looking for something specific.

So, after the initial "networking" was over I sat through a presentation by Michael Caselli.

I'm sure Michael knows his stuff. He is afterall, "considered one of the world's leading experts on online gaming".

I just wish he'd said something that was interesting. Only one question was asked by audience at the end of his presentation, which just about sums it up. I desperately wanted to put my hand up and ask, "What was that all about Michael"?

Honestly, there was no point to it at all.

After his presentation, there was the promise of lunch, followed by more talks by more people I've never heard of before.

Well guess what? Lunch was served and I sneaked off out through the double doors, hot-legged it to the car and sped off as fast as I could.

Maybe I didn't give it enough time, who knows? Trouble is, I think I gave it too much time. Not even the prospect of a free lunch and an evening of networking at a Birmingham casino was enough to keep me there.

I must say though, that I don't have a lot of interest in casino programs, so maybe it was just the wrong event for me.
